We offer spaying and neutering of cats and dogs at low cost to assist in the pet overpopulation crisis.  All of our patients are under anesthesia, and the surgical instruments sterilized.  The incision area is shaved, to minimize contamination, and scrubbed with two solutions to assist in the disinfection of the skin.  Patients are given an injection of pain medication and antibiotics at the time of surgery.  All dogs and female cats will also be sent home with three days worth of medication for post-surgical pain management.  Recovery period is seven to ten days.

Cat Neuter:  The testicles are removed through two small incisions.  The incisions are so tiny that no sutures are needed.  Recovery is generally uneventful and aftercare minimal

Cat Spay: A 1.0-1.5 inch incision will be made on your cat's abdomen.  The uterus and the ovaries will both be removed.  We use absorbable buried sutures, that you will not be able to see, to close the incision.  We also use a small amount of green tattoo ink along the incision to permanently identify her as spayed.  (For feral cats we offer ear cropping, we understand that you may not be able to catch these cats ever again, and you need to see if they have been done from a distance)

Feline Declawing:  Either both front feet or back feet can be declawed.  This consists of removing the first digit from each toe.  This is to insure that the nail is unable to regrow. We apply pressure bandages to the declawed paws post-surgically to control any bleeding. We will keep your cat two nights. The paws will be tender, so restriction of exercise is essential for home care for one to two weeks after.  We will provide one week's worth of Yesterday's News to provide a safe litter for your cat's tender paws.  Clay litters tend to enter the incision causing infection and pain.

Dog Neuter: a small incision will be made just in front of the scrotum.  Both testicles will be removed through one incision to minimize aftercare.  The incision will be closed with absorbable buried sutures.   Healing time frame is 5-7 days.

Dog Spay: A small incision will be made on your dog's abdomen, the uterus and ovaries will both be removed.  The incision will be closed with three layers of absorbable buried sutures.   We also use a small amount of green tattoo ink along the incision to permanently identify her as spayed. It is important to restrict exercise for seven to ten days after surgery.
